SolarWorld Announced Plans to Bid for the German Plants of General Motors’ Opel unit

In case you missed it yesterday, SolarWorld's chief executive, Frank Asbeck raised eyebrows by announcing his bid for the German plants of General Motors' Opel unit.  I initially thought it was a play for the plants, skilled labor, and his intentions were to convert the production lines from automotive to PV.

However, after the initial shock war off, Mr. Asbeck was given the chance to explain his intentions, and the 49-year old solar power baron told Reuters that he wanted to make Opel the first "green" car company in the world.  This is a very interesting development and angle.  How does it apply to New Mexico, well, we almost brought Tesla Motors here, so perhaps, there's an opportunity to lure his idea here instead if the Opel play doesn't work out??  It's worth following this story...
